Tomorrow's class, Monday 5th January, will be the first of two with our very own Audrey Bowling on the subject of Intuitive Abstract Mixed-Media. Location: Foakes Hall, Great Dunmow Time: 1-3pm Dates: Monday 5th January Monday 12th January Don’t forget to bring a mug if you would like to enjoy a cuppa ☕️ Audrey has provided us with the following information: ‘We will be doing intuitive, abstract mixed-media, working in layers. The first week will be preparing a base, the second week we will work towards finishing them. We will work on 6/8 items simultaneously. This will help with drying times; help keep your work fresh and give you opportunity to experiment. Please bring a hairdryer if you have one. If you have the following, please bring them. If not, don't worry I will have some you can use. Please don't go and buy some specially until you know you want to use them in your own work; it could become very expensive. Heavy paper (300g/140lb+), canvas or board A4 size or bigger. Any boards should be sealed with a coat of gesso. Or a previous artwork (not oil) that you want to paint over. You may cover all or part of this with gesso to start again – I suggest at least 2 days before to allow to dry thoroughly. Bring 6-8 sheets with you – I'll have some spare paper. - Acrylic paints (any colours) - Gesso - Mark making tools, for example: o Ink dip pen o Round things – empty Sellotape reels, empty loo rolls, o Credit cards/scrapers o Forks o Twigs o Feathers o Stamps o brayer o Brushes o Palette knife o Any other random things you can find around the house that might make good marks and you don't mind getting paint on. - Pens – posca, waterproof - Inks – acrylic, Indian, Quink, drawing, etc - Graphite - Charcoal - Watercolour - Soft pastels - Collage fodder – broken books, sheet music, wrapping paper, paper bags, gelli prints, doilies, newspapers, old patterns or magazines. - Old magazine or some surface for putting glue on things - Texture mediums – carvable paste, crackle paste, wood filler, etc - sand, eggshells, threads - Rubbing alcohol - Sandpaper - Kitchen roll - Hair dryer - Stencils - Palette - Water container - Glues – PVA, Pritt stick, acrylic mediums - Scissors - Spray bottle Lastly, please bring enthusiasm to experiment and an open mind.’
