Originally scheduled for January, but postponed due to illness, local historian and author Dr Janet Dyson will give a talk on the Great Bardfield artists, with a particular focus on Tirzah Garwood, on Wednesday May 21st for members of the Dunmow Art Group. Dr Janet Dyson is a teacher, writer, bookseller and researcher and member of the Great Bardfield Historical Society. Recently seen on BBC’s ‘Great British Railway Journeys’ with Michael Portillo on his journey through Essex. She has written a number of books including Great Bardfield Shows Beautiful Things: The Artists of Great Bardfield (2017). This small format book provides an introduction to the group of artists who gathered in the Essex village of Great Bardfield from the 1930s onwards. The talk will be held on the evening of Wednesday May 21st 2025 in the Foakes Hall in Great Dunmow at 7.30pm. The cost is £1 for members of Dunmow Art Group and £5 for non-members. Dunmow Art Group has a long history of supporting artists and art lovers in and around Dunmow and has a regular programme of weekly art meetings and monthly visiting artists.
