Classes are back on Monday!! Graham Webber will be with us for 4 weeks from Monday 4th November. Please note that these classes will be for 3 hours, starting at 12pm till 3pm. Graham has put together the below details for us and the materials needed. Oil Painting Sessions Session 1 - 4 Nov Composition and atmospheric perspective - Summer Landscape Session 2 - 11 Nov Shape and Form - Boats Session 3 - 18 Nov Colour harmony and Tonal Value - Low light subject, Sunset Session 4 - 25 Nov Perspective - cityscape The Materials list below will apply for each of the four sessions: Materials List: 1 x board for each session approx. 12in x 16in - preferably MDF primed with three coats of Winsor and Newton acrylic Gesso. If you can only get canvas panels it would be good to add additional coats of the gesso to cover the canvas weave. When priming the panel don't worry about smoothing your brushstrokes. Colours: We will be using Winsor and Newton's Winton oil paint range: Titanium White, French Ultramarine, Cadmium Yellow Pale Hue and Cadmium Red Hue Brushes: The most important thing is to use short flat hog bristle brushes and only use synthetic hair for the rigger: Hog bristle, short flat (or bright) No. 6, No.1 synthetic rigger Solvent: I use Zest-it Oil Paint Dilutant and Brush Cleaner Cloths: Paper towel Sketchbook: A5 sketchbook and 2B pencil Easel: I'll be using a sketchbox easel, but whatever you normally use will be fine. Palette: My preference is a wooden palette but tear-off or plastic palettes are just as good! Reference: Reference images will be provided but if you would like to bring your own reference in the form of photographs, sketches or small paintings please feel free.
