Sheila Martin and Mixed-media on Monday

On Monday we have Sheila Martin joining us again for one week, using mixed media.

Monday 29th September - 1pm - 3pm in the Talberd Room, Foakes Hall,  Great Dunmow.

Sheila is going to bring mountboards and black watercolour paper. She will also bring a few other things such as white glitter, Pebeo cerne relief and gold and dried hyacinths glue.

With the black watercolour you will need to use acrylic inks or gouache.

Sheila is also going to do some stencils for you to paint and for the mount boad acrylics. There will be an assortment to choose from so you can take home a painting of your own.

At 74 years of age, Sheila has been working as an artist since 2011 and attended various courses in Carcassonne France, Tuscany Italy with the St Ives School of Painting.  She has taken all kinds of art techniques from these courses and others to bring all kinds of affects to her work.  One of her art associates is John Harrison of Birch Gallery who has inspired her to do more and more different styles.

Sheila’s work has been on show in numerous places throughout Sussex and Essex.  She has worked with Stoke Mandeville hospital patients and feels that everyone should experiment with their painting.

Nathalie Guinamard will be providing a demonstration for members of the Dunmow Art Group on 17 September at Foakes Hall. Nathalie Guinamard is an award-winning figurative artist based in Chelmsford, working primarily in ink. Her practice explores the tension between representation and abstraction, using water and accidental marks to dissolve and distort the human figure. She studied Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Drawing and went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma at Chelsea College of Art. Nathalie’s work has been shortlisted for several prestigious awards, including the Jerwood Drawing Prize, the National Open Art Competition, and the ING Discerning Eye. She has exhibited in a range of prominent shows, including ARTfutures, the Red Mansion Art Prize exhibition—following a residency in Beijing—and at Alan Cristea Gallery, where she was featured alongside three other emerging artists. In 2012, Nathalie was one of 30 artists commissioned by the Royal Mail to design a special edition stamp celebrating the London Olympic Games The demonstration will be held on 17 September 2025 in the Foakes Hall in Great Dunmow between 7.30 pm and 9.30pm. The cost is £1 for members of Dunmow Art Group and £10 for non-members. Dunmow Art Group has a long history of supporting artists and art lovers in and around Dunmow and has a regular programme of weekly art meetings and monthly visiting artists.
