Interesting Insight with Edward Gildea
Many thanks to Edward Gildea for such an interesting and insightful talk this Evening. We shall be looking at artworks in a very different light in future, and try to spot the elephant in the painting.

Week 3 with Nicky Gayle
We would like to say a huge thank you to Nicky Gayle for 3 weeks of challenging and informative sessions on abstract acrylics.
For the final week we painted a view of some beach huts at the far edge of Frinton.
Dunmow Art Group would like to say a huge thank you to the late John Grimshaw's relative, Susan for kindly making a donation to our group for an award in his name. John loved painting horses and to honour John's memory, we have had a trophy engraved; this seemed a fitting choice. The trophy will be awarded to the winner of our annual competition (this year's theme is 'birds'). In future, this will be known as the John Grimshaw Award. The competition winner will look after the trophy for the year before passing it on to the next winner. 🏆

Rayne Station
The last of our summer plein air sessions took place at Rayne Station. Time for drawing trees, the old station building and the wandering Flitch Way.
A smaller group than usual due to the change of day, but a pleasant time was had.

Last week with Leon Barnes and Oil
What an inspiring 4 weeks with Leon Barnes. This week was a sunset over mountains. Even I who doesn't really like oils found this easy to follow. Sadly our last session, although we are arranging a second visit by Leon next year. Here's a sample of today's artworks.

What a fabulous afternoon we have had with the amazing Leon Barnes - Landscape Artist. Thank you for being such a good mentor, helping and reassuring us as we recreated the beautiful sunset in oils. Some of us hadn’t used oils before or not for a long time but your class was enjoyed by all…we definitely learnt a lot! 🎨 Enjoy our gallery!
