Please can you bring: -Your usual paper (larger than A4 if you have it) water pots etc. -Masking tape -A few acrylic paints plus black and white and a few brushes. Don't worry if you don't have acrylics, you can do this with watercolours. -Old tester pots of emulsion you may have. -Anything that can make marks or scratches - eg. bubble wrap, bits of card, an old credit card, stencils, a bit of collage and glue, ink pen and ink, whatever you fancy. -A few colour pencils or pastels. Don't worry if you don't have all of these, just bring what you can. Hope to see you there.

It is good to be challenged…and we are always open to try something new; today was no exception! Learning to use acrylic as if it were oils was certainly very challenging! Fabienne taught us how to blend gradually as acrylics dry so quickly…a skill that will take a little practise! This gallery shows our work in progress.

An afternoon of two halves today! Firstly, we carried on with our pastel portraits and then created some abstract watercolours aka Neurographic Art - letting our minds run freely and not controlling anything at first! Enjoy the gallery! 🎨 #dunmowartgroup #dunmow #art #pastelart #portraits #neurographicart

On Monday, to start with, we'll finish the pastel pencil drawing we started last week, then for the next hour we'll do some relaxing and therapeutic abstract work. We'll need a black sharpie pen (fine tip) a white sheet of watercolour paper, watercolour paints, a medium size brush and masking tape.

Here are the details for the class on Monday 15th April with the lovely Fabienne. Fabienne will be using pastel pencils (pastels for those who don't have pencils) to work on skin tones in portrait. Fabienne has chosen this picture of a young woman which is quite standard and where there is contrast in value, but not too much. The colours you will need are: -Grey for sketching -White -Crimson or cadmium red -Olive green -Ultramarine -Lemon yellow -Black for details. Fabienne has said that you can bring a putty rubber, but personally she doesn’t use them.
