New Dunmow Art Group member Elsie Bouffler will be exhibiting some of her watercolour sketches done during her morning walks. This one is called New Every Morning.

The Holiday Cottage by Mandy Whittick

This Mixed-media artwork by one of Dunmow Art Group's Members, Mandy Whittick, is called The Holiday Cottage.  Painted in a semi-abstract style to evoke memories of some time away from the hubub, this will be one of the artworks on show at the Dunmow Art Group Autumn Exhibition in St Mary's Church,  Great Dunmow next weekend. 

Watercolour with Louise Man

Some images of the demonstration Louise Man Art did a week ago. The theme was autumnal foliage and creating compositions with blind contour drawing (looking only at the objects and not the paper) and then doing a second drawing with your non-dominant hand. This technique forces you to really look at what you’re drawing and to let go of the control your brain has over how you draw and paint. After making initial drawings, some with pencils, pens, charcoal and even twigs dipped in acrylic ink, the group then washed watercolours in loose washes over areas of their drawings, highlighting some areas with more detail. Lots of great work!

Two Weeks to Go

 With just two weeks to go, the invitations to the private view have been sent and we will start to show you some of the work that our artists have been doing.

Autumn Exhibition

We are pleased to announce that Dunmow Art Group will be holding an Autumn Exhibition at St Mary's Church,  Church St, Great Dunmow on Saturday 15th 10am to 4pm and Sunday 16 October 12 noon to 3pm. 

Please drop in to view the artwork, cards, etc There's no entrance fee, but there will be a raffle and refreshments available to purchase.

2022/2023 Membership

2022/2023 membership is due starting tomorrow 1 September. Current members should have received an email with details. 

Artists in Action at Countess of Warwick Show

Anyone local is likely to know that the Countess of Warwick Show takes place this weekend. This year, for the first time, there will be a number of artists painting by the lake as well as the art show in the church. A number of Dunmow Art Group members will be taking part and will be happy to see you during the show on Sunday and Monday.

Plein Air St Mary's

The last of our planned plein air sessions took place at St Mary's, Great Dunmow.  Here are a selection of sketches from today's session. 

These sessions have been well received by all who attended as well as our host venues. It is quite likely that there will be more of these next year and at times other than summer. Watch this space for more details.
